Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Certification

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Certification

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legally binding paper that grants an individual aged 21 or above (the donor) the ability to designate one or more individuals (the donee(s)) to make decisions on their behalf in the event that they become mentally incapacitated. This document must be signed by a Certificate Issuer, who is typically a recognized Medical Practitioner, lawyer, or psychiatrist, responsible for ensuring that the donor fully comprehends the implications of creating an LPA.
Benefits of having an LPA include empowering a trusted person or persons of your choice to make decisions concerning your personal welfare and/or financial matters if you lose mental capacity. By having an LPA in place, you can find reassurance for yourself and your loved ones, knowing that there are provisions for handling your affairs if you are no longer able to do so vourself.
