ICA medical examinationNot every Long-Term Visit Pass applicant needs a medical examination. ICA states that after in-principle approval you'll be told which tasks are needed, and that these "may include completing a medical check-up". And there are two different LTVPs — one issued by ICA, one by MOM. Establish which is yours before you book anything.
Several clinics describe the LTVP as the pass for the family of an Employment Pass or S Pass holder, and then say ICA requires the medical. Both halves cannot be right. The LTVP for family of work pass holders is issued by MOM; the LTVP for family of Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents is issued by ICA.
The issuing authority determines the process, the forms and the fees. Work out which route applies to you first.
| ICA-issued LTVP | MOM-issued LTVP | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sponsors you | A Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident | An Employment Pass or S Pass holder |
| Typical applicants | Foreign spouse, unmarried child or parent of an SC/PR; mother or grandmother of a child on a Student's Pass; graduate of an Institute of Higher Learning seeking employment; visitor planning to give birth in Singapore | Certain family members who don't qualify for a Dependant's Pass |
| Related pass | LTVP+ may be considered for foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens | See our Dependant's Pass page |
| Medical examination | Only where ICA tells you it is required | As MOM directs |

Where ICA requires it, the LTVP medical check-up is part of the completion of formalities stage — after your application has received in-principle approval, and before the pass is issued.
ICA's wording is careful: upon in-principle approval, "you will be informed of the tasks required to complete the formalities. This may include completing a medical check-up." It is not automatic for every applicant.
If you are asked for one, a doctor completes ICA's Medical Examination Report form, which you then upload.
ICA's Medical Examination Report form asks the examining doctor to certify just two things:
The doctor also records their name, MCR number, signature, clinic stamp and contact details. Source: ICA — Medical Examination Report form.
Most of what you'll read online about the LTVP medical is a paraphrase of a paraphrase. The rules are printed on ICA's Medical Examination Report form itself:
The form also carries a warning: it is an offence under the Immigration Act to make a false statement, representation or declaration.
For applications submitted on or after 26 June 2024.
Renewing? ICA advises submitting the renewal application at least three months before your current LTVP expires. Remaining validity is not carried forward.
